This course discusses why and how Korea was able to escape from poverty and transform itself into a developed country. It examines the economic landscape of Joseon after the opening of the ports and its transformation under colonial rule, while also exploring Korea’s rapid economic growth and its impact on the lives of Koreans. This historical journey will allow you a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the Korean economy today, and a balanced, critical perspective on its modern history.
