Summary

The course examines the birth, growth, and evolution of school education in Korea. School education has served as the driving force for Korea's economic growth through the accumulation of human capital. This lecture will be an opportunity to examine the process of establishing the institutional foundation of school education in Korea, including the elementary, secondary and higher education systems as well as nonformal education. It also evaluates this historical experience from various perspectives exploring the diverse challenges facing Korean school education today, including the problems of shadow education.
