Summary
This course deals with the historical process of rural development in Korea from the Joseon Dynasty to the present. It critically examines the reciprocity and cooperative activities of village associations in the Joseon Dynasty, critically reviews the New Village Movement in the 1970s and rural development programs of modern South Korea, and seeks the challenges and directions that South Korea faces as a donor to international rural development programs. Through this, students will have the opportunity to understand Korean rural development in three dimensions from the perspective of history, economics, and international development studies in the flow that connects the past, present, and future of rural development.
