Summary“Diaries of Koreans” is an advanced liberal arts course that explores the significance and value of five representative Korean diaries. By reading and analyzing key passages together, the course aims to deepen understanding of these historical texts. In the past, Korean diaries ranged widely in form and purpose, from official records kept by institutions using standardized formats, to private journals where individuals freely recorded their thoughts, feelings, and daily lives. This course is designed to reflect that diversity by selecting diaries that vary in type and historical context. Each diary introduced in this course is taught by instructors who have conducted in-depth research on the texts, including publishing academic papers or translations, ensuring a scholarly and engaging learning experience. |
