Summary
This course explains why carbon neutrality cannot stop climate change and introduces the economic principle of the 'tragedy of the commons' as the root cause of climate change. It explains that the tragedy of the commons is a common cause not only of climate change but also of various social problems. Furthermore, by examining the successful case of resolving Korea's marine debris problem, it emphasizes that the tragedy of the commons can be overcome by evolving institutions. Students will understand that the solution to climate change lies in institutional evolution and will develop the ability to design such institutions.
