The course provides a systematic introduction to the statistics contained in Historical Statistics Korea (2018, Vol.2). This book consists of 11 sections: transportation and communication, service industry and public services, national income, prices, capital and wealth, science and technology, business organization, currency and financial system, government finance and employment, justice, and international trade and exchange rate. By examining how individual indicators in each sector evolved both before and after liberation, and how the different sectors have interacted, students will be able to get an empirical understanding of the long-term trends of Korean economy based on quantitative data.
